Above: 1940 Junior Orchestra : Only two students are identified from this photo. One is the fellow in front with the violin. This is Richard Warren. To the immediate right of Warren is Gorden Bivens. Both these fellows went on to be recognized as “Distinguished Professors” at ISU in 1983- page 208. Miss Bathe, Director.

Note the sharp looking “Letter Sweaters” worn by Earl Johnson and Glen Sampson with a different style (speculation - it is a Music Award Letter) worn by Richard Comfort.

Ila Mae Bailey ‘46 earned this band letter. By the mid fifties they were no longer issued. Compare with those of 1927, page 133, and those in the glee club picture above.
