A "Business Mens' Association" was formed in March 1904. The Roland Commercial Club completed organization in May 1908, and the club had its first banquet May 11, 1909.
At a joint meeting of the Story City and Roland Community Clubs on December 12, 1911, Mayor J. H. Larson turned on the electric lights in Roland for the first time.
The organization continued through the years since as the Roland Community Club with varying degrees of activity and interest until February 10, 1958, when it was decided to change the club to an organization for businessmen only, to be known as the Roland Businessmen's Club. The club has now been inactive for several years.
Roland Cub Scouts, Pack #162, was organized December 1957 with the help of their sponsor, the Wa-tan-ye Club of Roland. The Wa-tan-ye Cub Scout Committee consisted of Mrs. Willard Rod, Mrs. Kermit Molde, Mrs. Grant Eggland and Mrs. Lester Severson.
The first Cub Master was Conroy Fagerland; Assistant Cub Master, Kermit O. Molde; Executive Committee, Floyd Christian, Robert Birkeland, Leroy Higgins, Earl J. Ritland, Rev. Everett Nelson, and Aaron Braathun. The Den Mothers were Mrs. Leo Hanson, Mrs. Leroy Higgins, Mrs. Arnold Anderson, Mrs. Ben Arneson, and Mrs. Loren Britson.
Cub Scouts the first year were Craig Anderson, Gary Arneson, Roger Birkeland, Kenny Britson, Timmy Christian, Danny Eggland, Keith Eggland, Dean Eggland, Douglas Eldredge, Steven Eller, Jerry Fagerland, Donald E. Hanson, Larry Hanson, Bobby Higgins, Ricky Hougland, Harold Johnson, Roddy Larson, Roger Molde, Gary Olson, Steven Osheim, Larry Quam, Dennis Posegate, Graig Rasmusson, Kim Rasmusson, David Ritland, Larry Ritland, Randy Rod, Steven Sondall, Steven Stone, Bruce Strum, Dale Strum, Lon-dell Strum, Dennis Strum, Gary Teig, Larry Tesdall, and Murray Omundson.
Cub Master for 1969-70 is Wallace Anderson jr. ; Executive Committee, Willard Rod, Jarl Strum, Cecil Hocking, John Holland, Arnold Munson, and Kenneth Wiese. The Den Mothers are Mrs. Vern Tjelmeland, Mrs. Duane Perisho, Mrs. Wallace Anderson jr. , Mrs. William Carlson, with Mrs. Harlan Hall assisting. Webelos leaders are Mr. and Mrs. John Lee and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ramsey.
