A similar vote was held in 1977 and was turned down. Maxwell voters approved the move, but Collins voters turned it down.
Consolidation will take effect in the 1983-84 school year. The two schools, which have shared a variety of programs in past years, will extend that sharing program for the final year of both schools independent existence during the 1982-83 school year.
