No votes were taken at the meeting, but sentiment of both boards seem to strongly favor continuing the sharing program and expanding it to a maximum next year -- that is to have continued 6th through 8th grades from both districts go to school in one building and combine 9th through 12th grade go to school in another building. Academic programs would be combined, but activities programs for the high school students would remain separate. The sentiment was also strong that the boards should not make this decision without from the taxpayers and school patrons in the communities. Tuesday, February 2, was set as the date for the meeting in Maxwell and Wednesday, February 3, was set for the Collins meeting. It was brought out that Collins is approaching a point of no return in the sharing program. Maxwell could get along without the sharing program now, but a future drop in enrollment might create difficulties. Superintendents of the schools reported there had been virtually no problems with the sharing program and everyone seems to be happy with it.

January 19, 1982. The Collins school board members reviewed the school visit report submitted to them by Stan Kerr of the Iowa Department of Public Instruction at their regular meeting Monday night. The report shows all the departments in the school to be in good or satisfactory shape except they may save a little money in the lunch program. The master contract with teachers was discussed and the board voted unanimously to ratify it.

January 27, 1982. The Maxwell Rockettes opened an early lead over the Collins Clipperettes and never relinquished that advantage for a 57-48 victory. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 33, Tammy Heidemann 11, Karen Smith 4. Collins guards rebounds: Janice Brafford 10, Dana Reitan 9.

The Maxwell boys defeated the Clippers 54-35. Scoring: Mike Lovig 12, Steve Coughenour 11, Jeff Sesker 6, Ric Salyers 5, Robinett 2, Shawn Howell 2. Coughenour led the rebounding with 9 and Salyers 8, Robinett and Lovig had 5 each.

January 29, 1982. The Colo girls team and boys team defeated the Collins Girls team 85-51and Collins Boys team 58-46. Collins girls scoring: Kristi Richardson 31 points including 17 and 26 free throws, Mindy Carver 9, Becky Newlin, Karen Smith 5. Guards rebounding: Dana Reitan 12, Janice Brafford 10 and 7 steals.

February 2, 1982. February 2, 1982. Collins girls lost 61-45 to Mingo. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 25, Karen Smith 10, Becky Newlin 10. Rebounding: Dana Reitan 12.
