February 26, 1981. Collins Boys escaped with a double overtime win 63-56 over Gilbert. Gilbert led 37-34 beginning the 4th quarter and increased it to 46-38 until Bill Dunshee took charge offensively scoring 7 of the Clippers' last 9 points in regulation time, with the final 2-pointer sending the game into overtime. With just seconds remaining in the overtime a Gilbert player missed on a second free throw attempt, sending the game into a second overtime. Dunshee ended up scoring 15 of Collins last 21 points and finished with 27 for the game. Other scoring: Oswalt 17, Hudson 13, Sesker 2, Huggins 2. Rebounding: Oswalt 15, Hudson 12. This is the second double overtime victory for Collins for the 17 won, 2 lost season. Coach Bill Brooks wasn't totally surprised that the Clippers were able to win another close decision.

February 27, 1981. Collins Boys opened the first quarter with 18-10 advantage over Maxwell, but Maxwell came back in the second quarter, trailing by only 4 points. Collins led throughout the second half for the Sectional Title 61-53. Bill Brooks said he was not surprised Maxwell's effort; it was just what I expected. Scoring: Brad Oswalt 12, Bill Dunshee 10, Jim Huggins 9, Jeff Sesker 4. Rebounding: Brad Oswalt 9. The Clippers' next game will be South Hamilton at Jewell.

March 4, 1981. The Collins Boys were eliminated from the Class 1A District competition by last year's runner-up team, South Hamilton, by a score of 74-55. Collins season record was 18 wins and 3 losses, also 20 and 2 in 1980 and 16 and 4 in 1979. South Hamilton took a first quarter lead of 23-9 and halftime lead of 40-23. South Hamilton's next game will be against SEMCO. Collins scoring: Hudson 17, Dunshee 15, Oswalt 14, Huggins and Coughenour each had 4, Sesker 1. Rebounding: Oswalt 8, Hudson 7.

March 6, 1981. The School Aid bill provides about $620 million in state aid for schools next school year, an increase of about $40 million short of what the education community had expected to receive.

March 20, 1981. Week of March 23. Hot Lunch Menu: Mon. Hamburger and cheese on bun, coleslaw, applesauce, cup cake, milk. Tues. Hay stacks and trims, Spanish rice, peaches, brownies, milk. Wed. Hot pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, green beans, peach cobbler, milk. Thurs. Wiener winks, baked beans, vegetable sticks, chocolate pudding, milk. Fri. Tuna and noodle casserole, rolls, salad, fruit cup, milk.

March 23, 1981. Homecoming at Collins high school was celebrated with a full week of activities. Special days include: Inside Out Dress Up Day, Goofy Day Dress Up, 50's Dress Up Day, Blue and White Dress Up Day. Thursday there was a slave auction and homecoming bonfire and pep rally. Homecoming royalty: Elected Queen Debbie Richard, and Bill Dunshee elected King. Queen attendants were: Diane Richard and Diane Graham and Lora Hernandez. Escorts were Mark Hudson, Brad Oswalt, and Ed Grimm. Tracy Hofer, last year's Queen and Barry Dodd, last year's King, did the crowning. The dance was held in the study hall.
