January 8, 1980. Collins Clipperettes evened their record at 4-4 by rolling past Central Dallas 70-54 on Central Dallas court. Collins led 32-16 at halftime. Scoring: Tracy Hofer 30, Kristi Richardson 27, Jean Huntrods 12, Karen Partridge 1. Guard rebounding: Rhonda Smith 9, Dana Reitan 4.

Collins Clippers had a strong New Year's game, defeating Central Dallas 92-38; season record 7-0. The starting five played slightly over half the game. Scoring: Mark Hudson 24, Mark Huntrods 22, Barry Dodd 10, Brad Oswalt 10, Bill Dunshee 8. Rebounding: Barry Dodd 7, Hudson 5.

January 9, 1980. The Clipperrettes put together a solid performance at Green Mountain as they led all the way in an 80-68 victory on the Green Mountain court. The Clipperettesdominated the boards offensively and defensively, 22 rebounds at each end of the court. Collins scoring: Kristi Richardson 40, Tracy Hofer 28, Jean Huntrods 9. The Clipperettes 5-4 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

The Collins Clippers scored the first 17 points of the game and continued hot shooting for 80-44 victory over Green Mountain on the Green Mountain court. Halftime score was 43-21. All five Clippers starters are averaging double figures for the season. January 14, 1980. The Collins Clipperettes, on their home court evened their season at 5-5, losing to LDF 63-52. LDF is the fourth-ranked team in Class 2-A ratings. LDF led Collins at halftime 35-22. LDF continued leading at third quarter score 47-35. The Clipperettes cut the lead to five points in the fourth quarter, but turnovers enabled LDF to win 63-52. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 24, Tracy Hofer 20. Guard rebounding: Rhonda Smith 8, Alice Coughenour 5, Karen Barrett 4.

The Collins boys had 21-10 first quarter lead, but LDF came back to defeat the Clippers 57-55 for their first loss of the year. The Clippers' big three men, juniors Bill Dunshee, Brad Oswalt, and Mark Hudson, all got into foul trouble and LDF was able to make the winning comeback. During the fatal fourth quarter the Clippers were able to hit on only 2 of 12 field goal shots. They also made only 7 of 16 free throws while LDF was putting in 17 of 23 attempts. Scoring: Mark Hudson 19, Bill Dunshee 12, Brad Oswalt 10, Mark Hudson 10, Barry Dodd and John Fish at 2 points each. Clippers' Ta Ma Ja Conference record equals 4-1, season record 8-1. LDF Conference record -- 4-1.

January 22, 1980. The Maxwell Rockettes on their court led the Collins Clipperettes for three quarters, but the Clipperettes outscored Maxwell 20-5 in the final quarter for a 58-49 Ta Ma Ja Conference win. Phenomenal comeback by the Clipperettes. Scoring: Kristi Richardson 23, Tracy Hofer 22, Jean Huntrods 13. Guard rebounding: Alice Coughenour 7, Janice Brafford 7. The Clipperettes are 4-2 in the Ta Ma Ja Conference.

January 24, 1980. The Collins girls led for most of the game against Baxter on the Baxter court, only to lose by 69-68 in the closing seconds of the game. Collins led by one point at half and four at the three quarter mark. Baxter scored a field goal in the last seconds for the one point victory. Kristi Richardson had a fine game, making 15 of 18 free throws and scoring 45 points. Jean Huntrods scored 13 and Tracy Hofer scored 10. Guard rebounding: Karen Barrett 10, Rhonda Smith 10.
