January 27, 1979. The Mingo girls topped the Collins Clipperettes the second time this season -- 65-60. Scoring: Jean Huntrods 27, Sheila Heidemann 24, Tracy Hofer 9. Guards rebounding: Alice Coughenour 9, Rhonda Smith 6, Karen Barrett 5.
The Collins boys had a strong game with 82-64 win over the Mingo. Scoring: Bill Dunshee 26, Charles Fish 15, Mark Huntrods 15 (13 rebounds), Brad Oswalt 10. Clippers' Ta Ma Ja mark is 4-3 and 10-3 season.
February 1, 1979. Steamboat Rock overcame Collins girls on their home court 63-57.
Clippers had a close victory 69-65 on the home court. Scoring: Barry Dodd 15, Brad Oswalt 11, Mark Huntrods 10, Bill Dunshee 9, Tracy Armentrout 6. Brooks noted, "The Clippers reduced turnovers by about one-half."
February 7, 1979. The Clipperettes fell to United 59-50 in their final season game on the home court. The score was tied with two minutes remaining. Scoring: Sheila Heidemann 37, Kristi Richardson 11. Guards rebounding: Rhonda Smith 13.
Collins boys followed up a 74-53 win over Baxter by winning 60-55 in Ta Ma Ja basketball conference. Collins boys are fourth place in the conference at 6-3.
February 8, 1979. Collins residents, for the third straight year, will produce a community-wide variety show later this month.
February 10, 1979. Collins high school cagers split a pair with Central Dallas. Girls losing 54-49 and boys winning 53-43. "Both boys and girls played good steady games," according to Coach Bill Brooks. Sheila Heidemann and Tracy Hofer led the girls with 16 points each and freshman Kristi Richardson had 13. Guards rebounding: Karen Barrett 5, Rhonda Smith and Alice Coughenour 3 each.
The boys scoring: Tracy Armentrout 12, Barry Dodd 8, Mark Huntrods 7, Sophomores Brad Oswalt and Mark Hudson each had 6. Rebounds: Huntrods 14, Hudson 10. Boys season 15-3.
February 15, 1979. Ta Ma Ja boys all-conference selections: First team -- Mark Huntrods. Honorable mention -- Bill Dunshee.
