December 9, 1978. Collins girls fell to Colo 63-51. Both teams scored 19 field goals with 49 percent shooting, but poor free throw stymied the Clipperettes. Scoring: Sheila Heidemann 23, Jean Huntrods 15, Tracy Hofer 11, Kristi Richardson 2. Guards rebounding: Rhonda Smith 7, Karen Barrett 4, Alice Coughenour 2.

Collins Clippers continued their winning streak to five with 68-59 overtime win over Ta Ma Ja Conference foe Colo on the Collins gym. The game was tied 24-24 at halftime. Scoring: Bill Dunshee 27, Mark Huntrods 20, Barry Dodd 9.

December 13, 1978. Collins Clippers extended their hot streak to 6-0 with 66-55 victory over Mingo. Scoring: Bill Dunshee 18, Mark Huntrods 13, Charles Fish 12, Barry Dodd 9, Mark Hudson 8, Tracy Armentrout 4. Collins shooting was 54% (31 of 58). Rebounding: Mark Hudson 9, Bill Dunshee 8, Mark Huntrods 6, Charles Fish 4.

December 18, 1978. The Collins boys' winning streak was broken 76-57 loss to Garwin. Garwin had a big first quarter, 23-9 and maintained the lead throughout the game. Scoring: Charles Fish 11, Bill Dunshee 8, Mark Hudson 7, Mark Huntrods 6, Tracy Armentrout 2. Rebounding: Bill Dunshee 11, Tracy Armentrout 9, Mark Huntrods 7.

January 4, 1979. Collins high school will crown its Homecoming King and Queen at the end of the Green Mountain game. King candidates include: Charles Fish, Tracy Armentrout, Joe Kimberley, Allyn Roberts. Queen candidates include; Judith Huggins, Lorna Wheeler, Sheila Heidemann, Jody Anderson. Homecoming activities begin Wednesday with Dress Up Day and continue with Goofy Day and a Slave Auction on Thursday and Toga Day and pep rally on Friday. Coronation and homecoming dance will follow the games with Green Mountain.

January 6, 1979. Green Mountain spoiled Collins homecoming, defeating the Clipperettes 70-45 and squeaking by the Clippers in 50-48 thriller. Clipperettes scoring: Sheila Heidemann 15 (also 10 offensive rebounds), Jean Huntrods 14, Tracy Hofer 10, Kristi Richardson 6. Guards rebounding: Karen Barrett 5, Rhonda Smith 4.

The Clippers led 21-18 at halftime and Mounties matched the Clippers into the final period. The Clippers' missed tip-in in the final seconds doomed the Collins boys 50-48 loss. Clipper season 6-2. Scoring: Barry Dodd 17, Mark Huntrods 14, Bill Dunshee 6, Charles Fish 6, Tracy Armentrout and Mark Hudson 3 each. Rebounding: Bill Dunshee 9, Mark Huntrods 5. "We didn't play consistent ball," commented Coach Bill Brooks.

January 10, 1979. The Collins girls and boys won a double header. The girls 61-59 and boys 76-61 over New Providence at Collins. Girls scoring: Sheila Heidemann 31, Tracy Hofer 15, Kristi Richardson 13, Jean Huntrods 2. Guards rebounding: Rhonda Smith 9, Karen Barrett 4. Clipperettes are 4-5 for the season.

Collins boys boosted their season's record to 7-2 with the win over New Providence. Scoring: Mark Huntrods 24, Charles Fish 17, Barry Dodd 14, Tracy Armentrout 12, Bill Dunshee 9. Coach Brooks said, "It was one of the best games we've played since Christmas break."
