Collins led by 6 at halftime and the game was tied at the 3rd quarter with Maxwell making 2 tip-ins in the last 35 seconds for the Maxwell victory. March 6, 1978. Iowans are apparently more interested in boys high school basketBall than girls, a poll published in the Des Moines Sunday Register found. Although boys prep basketBall enjoys a 2-1 margin over the girls' attendance, figures for the 2 state tournaments conflict with the poll results. The girls last year drew 92,000 in 8 sessions, while the boys attracted 94,000 in10 sessions.
April 11, 1978. By law, all new school busses must have a strobe unit mounted on top of the school bus. This is to help their visibility in stormy weather. The law does not demand their installation on busses already in service.
