June 23, 1977. Approximately 300 alumni members and their guests attended the Annual High School Alumni Banquet on Saturday night, May 29. The members of the 1977 graduating class were introduced by Superintendent Robert Rampulla and declared to be members of the Association. The program was in charge of the 26-year class with Kenny Carroll as master of ceremonies. The 50-year class was introduced by Milo Pitcher, who reminisced about each classmate as he was 50 years ago.

The 25-year class was introduced by Erwin Frerichs. Alice Burney of Zearing Colonial Manor was honored as the eldest graduate present--the class of 1905. The two living members of the 61-year class, Mabel Robinson and Truman Stanton, were present. A dance following the program and many classes went to private class reunions.

June 26, 1977. Collins took a 4-3 Ta-Ma-Ja Conference baseball game over Baxter on their diamond. Marvin Hampton hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning. Collins took the scoring lead in the 6th inning. Dunshee and Oglesby worked a double-steal to score the winning run for the 4-3 victory. Patterson allowed 3 hits, struck out 9, and walked only 1. "It was one of our best defensive games," Coach Bill Brooks said. Collins is now 7-7 in the conference.

June 27, 1977. The Iowa Girls Athletic Union has announced the softball tournament schedule. Maxwell plays Collins at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16 at Alleman.

June 29, 1977. Collins girls went wild on scoring 21 runs in the 1st inning, defeating Garwin 27-3 in 3 innings of Ta-Ma-Ja Conference softball. The Clipperettes had 26 batters in the 1st inning; Brafford had 2 doubles and Coughenour 4 singles.

"We have won 2 other games by the 10-run rule," Collins Coach Sandy Richerts said. "We are improving a lot, losing to Mingo by only 1 run, 10-9." Clipperettes are 3-11 for the season.

June 30, 1977. July 6, 1977. Colo took a pair of wins from Collins in a softball-baseball double header, winning baseball 6-3 and girls softball 17-4.

July 18, 1977. Maxwell defeated Collins softball team in the 1st round of the sectional tournament 11-0 in 5 innings.
