Rampulla explained that for Collins students to go to Colo for various classes would have cut into other class time in Collins for those students. In addition, problems of students not feeling at home in small numbers in another school were cited. Apparently this situation and its reasons had been unresolved between the boards since the program ended just days after it started. Rapulla had written schedules and other information about that situation on hand.

Two Petitions. Colo board member Tony Befort finally broke the ice and brought up the question of the attempted reorganization of Collins with Maxwell and he asked what the current situation was.

February 5, 1977. Collins Clipperettes dropped a game to powerful SEMCO 88-59. SEMCO had a strong 1st half and continued with a large lead. Collins scoring: Chris Dunshee 29, Tracy Thornton 19, Tammy Kingman 5, Sheila Heidemann 4, Jean Huntrods 2. Guard rebounding: Karen Ball 6, Sue Long 5, Rhonda Smith 3, Karen Barrett 3. A tough physical defense limited Collins to only 40 shots, but the Clipperettes did score on 21 of those for 53%.

Collins boys appeared headed for a victory with 37-24 lead shortly before halftime, but some crazy events put a stop to all that. Collins missed a free throw on a technical foul, then SEMCO took advantage of the opportunity to close within 8 points at halftime. SEMCO outscored Collins in the 3rd quarter 22-15 and 4th quarter 19-11 resulting in SEMCO 74 Colllins 67. Collins shooting 50% in the 1st half, 33% 2nd half. Doug Klemme paced the Clippers with 20 points, Jim Wright 19, Jeff Titus 10, Jim Atwood 7, Tracy Armentrout 4, Mike McDermott, Marv Hampton, and Charles Fish each had 2 points, Kirk Patterson 1.

February 9, 1977. February 14, 1977. First round, sectional tournament. The 18th ranked North Polk Comettess overwhelmed Collins girls 83-37. Collins scoring: Chris Dunshee 21, Tammy Kingman 10, Tracy Thornton 4, Sheila Heidemann 2. The Comettess had a superior guard court as they came up with 18 steals. Clipperette guards rebounds: Sue Long 7, Karen Ball 5.

February 18, 1977. Class A sectionals open Monday night for the boys basketBall teams. Collins vs Prairie City or Bondurant-Farrar at Prairie City on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.
