October 20, 1976. A total of 20 basketBall rules meetings have been organized by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The meetings, all scheduled for 7:30 p.m., will be held at various sites around the state late this month and early in November. The meetings are primarily designed for officials and coaches with discussion and interpretation of basketBall rules. Nearby sites are Marshalltown, Iowa Falls, and Boone.

November 15-19, 1976. Hot Lunch Menu. Mon. No school, parent-teacher conferences. Tues. Lasagna, green beans, hot rolls, upside down cake, milks. Wed. Chili soup, hot rolls, fruit, brownie, milk. Thurs. Fried chicken, potatoes and gravy, fruit, milk. Fri. Beef and noodles, hot rolls, cabbage, fruit, chocolate milk.

November 17, 1976. November 19, 1976. Collins won fifth place "outstanding youth involvement achievement award" for their city cleanup program, city beautification, the improvements to the senior citizens center and their community attitude survey. For this achievement they received a $75 cash award.

November 20, 1976. Colo took both ends of a double-header with Collins Friday night in the first round of the first annual Ta-Ma-Ja Conference basketBall tournament before a packed house at Collins. Colo won the girls game 53-52 in a nail biter and the Blue Devils also hung on for a 46-42 victory in the boys game. At conclusion hundreds of fans moved toward the exits shaking their heads.

Collins boys hit just 4 of 10 from the foul line. "We lost it from the line and by missing 4 lay ups in a row" said Collins coach Ron McNeil. Collins was led by Doug Klemme 14 points, Jim Wright 10, Kirk Patterson 10, Marv Hampton 4, Jeff Titus 2, Ed Hamilton 2. Collins shot 40% for the game. Colo dominated rebounds 42-15 over Collins.

Colo appeared to be in control with a13 point lead in the 4th period, but Collins girls forced 5 straight Colo turnovers and closed within 5 points. The Clipperettes continued battling back to within 1 point, but had a last second shot refuse to drop in after rolling around the rim. Collins scoring: Chris Dunshee 39, Tracy Thornton 9, Tammy Kingman 4. Karen Ball paced the Collins guard court with 11 rebounds, Terry Hugen had 5 rebounds.

December 1, 1976. Chris Dunshee and Judy Daleske dueled to an amazing 60-60 scoring standoff in their individual battle, but New Providence had more scoring support, winning 100-81. Collins shooting was 53% and New Providence 52%. Other Clipperette scoring: Tracy Thornton 8, Jean Huntrods 7, Jolene Brafford 6. Collins guard rebounding: Terry Hugen 13, Karen Ball 7, Sue Long 6. The guard court committed only 1 turnover in the entire game.
