December 10, 1925 Lose First Game – The boys’ and girls’ basket ball teams of the Collins high school went to Nevada last Friday evening where both teams met defeat from the teams of that place. The girls’ game was perhaps one of the closest games that will ever be played on that floor when the score up to the last minute of the play stood 17 to 17, but the last minute Nevada secured another basket which made the score 19 to 17 in favor of Nevada. The boys’ game was a good one with more of a difference in the score, the final score being 22 to10 in favor of Nevada. This was the first games to be played this year and each one made a very good showing in team work, and after a few games have been played the boys and girls will be in better shape and will make a different showing.

December 24, 1925 Local Declamatory Contest. In the third annual Collins High Declamatory Contest the following pupils were placed first and second. Oratorical: 1. The Prince of Peace – Alice Heintz, 2. American First – Harold Sinnott

Anna Marsh placed first over all for the third consecutive year. Each of the eleven contestants did splendid work and should be high commended. The firsts will enter the Preliminary Contest, the first of the series of District Contests in February, while the seconds will enter the Sub-county contest to be held the latter part of January.
