November 29, 1973. Girls BasketBall The Clipperettes opened the season with 90-65 win over New Providence. Scoring: Deb Carroll 33, Cindy Dunshee 26, Jan Talburt 25, Julie Lehman 8, Chris Dunshee 2, Cathy Smith 2. Cindy Tiffany led the guard court with 12 rebounds; Donna Barrett - 6, and Mary Beth Kingman 4, Terry Hugen 4, Becky Oswalt 1, Christina Morrison 1. Collins coach Bill Brooks commented "We had 26 turnovers, but scoring was well balanced. We also blocked out and rebounded well."
Boys BasketBall The boys had a 32-27 halftime lead, but went on scoring binge in the second half for a season opening victory of 76-49. Bill Oswalt had game high 30 points and also 22 rebounds. Scoring by other team members: Keith Patterson 20, Jerold Fitzgerald 10, Ken Caulkins 6, Frank Beavers 4, Denny Long 4, Jim Wright 2, Tony Moses 1.
