Clippers opened with a 17 point lead before scrambling for a one point, 80-79 victory over Bondurant on the home court. The score was tied 20-20 at the 1st quarter; Clippers led 47-38 at halftime and led 69-52 at 3rd quarter. Bondurant began chipping away on the lead with about five minutes remaining in the game with Collins holding on for the win. Collins scoring: Steve Carroll 33, Bill Oswalt 17, Craig Rhoads 12, Mark Carver 12, Jerold Fitzgerald 4, Keith Patterson 2. The Clippers shot 50%, 35 of 70 attempts. Foul shooting was 10 of 27 for 37%. Rebounding: Oswalt 15, Carver 13, Rhoads 10.

December 1, 1972. Lunch menu - Dec. 4 - 8. Mon. Bar-B-Que pork on bun, lettuce salad, potato chips, applesauce, cookie, bread/butter, milk. Tues. Spoonburgers, relish, peanut butter sandwich, Jell-O with fruit, bread/butter, cookie, milk. Wed. Chicken and noodles, biscuits, green beans, peach dessert, milk. Thurs. Tator-tat casserole, rolls, cake, orange juice, bread/butter, milk. Fri. Fish, peas, potato salad or scalloped potatoes, rolls, fresh fruit, bread/butter, milk.

December 2, 1972. Collins girls led LDF in the 1st half 44-36 with Deb Carroll scoring 32 points. LDF gained the lead in the 3rd quarter and went on to win 92-68. Scoring: Deb Carroll 50, Donna Barrett 8, Jan Talburt 6, Cindy Dunshee 4. Shooting percent 46%.

Collins boys 4th quarter rally fell 3 points short, losing 53-51. Coach Behrens said, "We seemed flat the whole game." Scoring: Bill Oswalt 11, Steve Carroll 10, Jerold Fitzgerald 9, Mark Carver 7, Greg Rhoads 6, Keith Patterson 4, Ken Caulkins 4.

December 4, 1972. Collins Basketball teams scored a pair of victories over the Mingo teams. The Clipperettes won 56-45 with excellent shooting of 55%. Scoring: Deb Carroll 28, Jan Talburt 12, Donna Barrett 10, Jodee Holland 4, Cindy Dunshee 2.

The Boys took a 30-13 halftime edge and moved on to 66-32 victory. Coach Behrens complemented Mark Carver for his best game of the season: 18 points, 6 rebounds, and numerous assists. Other scoring: Steve Carroll 18, Bill Oswalt 14, Greg Rhoads 4, Ken Caulkins 4, Keith Patterson 4, Bill Crabb 2, Steve Lillard 2. Shooting was 39%.

December 6, 1972. Auditing completed at Collins school district. The auditor reported his office received full cooperation from the school officials and employees during the period of the audit. Auditor noted the bonded indebtedness of the district was $40,000 with bonds redeemed totaling $10,000 and interest payment of $1,050. Total cost for all expenditures during 1971-72 school year totaled $241,430. During the same period, the school district had receipts of $234,454, leaving a deficit of $6,976. Reason for the loss was the amending the budget by $8,000 to buy a new bus. The receipts included $163,995 from local taxes, $68,581 from State appropriations, and $1878 from other revenue. Fund balance is $56,724 at the end of the school year.

December 9, 1972. Both Collins Basketball Teams evened their Ta Ma Ja Conference records at one and one. The Clipperettes led 20-13 at the 1st quarter, they fell behind 34-31 at halftime, and trailed by a point after three quarters. A strong 4th quarter led to 74-64 victory. Scoring: Deb Carroll 45 (17 free throws), Jan Talburt 17, Cindy Dunshee 12, Donna Barrett 2. The Clipperettes shot 40%. The Clipperette guards also had a quality game, Diana Atwood had 9 rebounds and one interception, and Cathy Kingman had 6 rebounds and 2 interceptions. Coach Brooks said, "It was the girls' best game of the year."
