April 21, 1972. Girls Track Two Collins track performers are listed on the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union honor list released for the first time this week. Diana Atwood is listed on both of the individual hurdle event lists. Atwood has the best time for the 100 meter hurdles at 16.2 secs. Atwood has the second best time for the 220 yard low hurdles -- 31.4 secs. Deb Carroll is tied for 4th in the 220 yard dash -- 26.9 secs.
April 27, 1972. Collins Boys Quadrangular Track Meet Collins won the meet with 75 pts., SEMCO 63 pts., Maxwell 24 pts., and Baxter 12 pts. Steve Carroll and Doug Atwood did much of the scoring for Collins. Steve Carroll won three events and ran in the winning 440 yard relay team that set a school record with Ronnie Mullihan, Stan Carroll, and Bill Huntrods. Steve Carroll won the high jump, long jump, and 220 yard dash. Doug Atwood captured the 120 yard high hurdles in 17.5 sec. and the 180 yd. lows in 23.5 sec.
