January 30, 1971. Homecoming The Clipperettes held a 27-24 halftime lead, but turnovers and sputtering offense resulted in Baxter over Collins 54-49. Scoring: Joan Altes 21; Deb Carroll 19; Jan Talburt 9. Guards rebounding: Janice Hunt and Cathy Kingman, 8 each.

The Clippers stunned Baxter with tough defensive play in the 1st quarter, allowing only 6 points. Baxter regained their scoring touch for the remaining 3 quarters for a 51-37 victory. Lineup: Bob Oswalt 13 (12 rebounds); Stan Carroll 8; Steve Carroll 6; Rick McQuiston and Dick Huntrods, each 4; Bill Crabb 2.

February 2, 1971. Collins girlscoach Bill Brooks termed the Clipperettes 66-55 victory over New Providence one of the best games of the season. Collins shot over 50% and the guard court of Nancy Long, Janice Hunt, and Cathy Kingman forced New Providence to shoot low percentage outside shots most of the game. Scoring: Deb Carrol 25; Jan Talburt 23; Joan Altes 15; Jodee Holland 3; Roxanne Newman 1.

The Clippers had a small lead nearly the entire game, but in the last minute New Providence scored the winning point for a 60-59 victory. It was at the free throw line where the Clippers lost the game as they outscored New Providence on field goals -- 23-19. They converted 22 of 38 free throws and Collins was 15 of 28. Three starters - Dick Huntrods, Bob Oswalt, and Stan Carroll departed on fouls. Lineup: Dick Huntrods 21 (10 rebounds); Bill Crabb 12; Bob Oswalt 11 (9 rebounds); Steve Carroll 5; Stan Carroll 4; Rick McQuistion 3; Ed Fitzgerald 2; Jerry Adams 1.

February 6, 1971. The Clipperettes and Colo played a tight game until the last 6 minutes, Colo outscored Collins 21 to 1 for a 65-52 victory over the Clipperetts. Lineup: Joan Altes 25; Deb Carroll 19; Jan Talburt 8. Guards: Nancy Long, Janice Hunt, Cathy Kingman, Diana Atwood, Teresa Luing.

The Clippers pulled off an upset with a 68-64 victory, after losing to Colo earlier in the season 71-51. The Clippers' season record is 3-12 with 4 of the losses by 5 points or less. The Clippers had 35-30 halftime lead and matched Colo's scoring for the last 2 quarters for the victory. The difference in the game was free throws as Collins converted 24 of 37 off 33 Colo fouls, while Colo hit only 10 of 24 off 19 Collins fouls. Colo had a 27-22 field goal advantage.
