January 20, 1969 Basketball The Collins girls pulled off a thrilling victory 58-57 over Colo in the first game of Collins homecoming evening. The teams were tied 14 at the 1st quarter and 29 at halftime. Collins moved in front 48-44 in the 3rd quarter and held on for the homecoming victory 58-57. Collins scoring: Linda Carroll 29 pts.; Donna Rumbaugh 18 pts. (Homecoming queen); Cathy Carroll 11 pts. Coach Bill Brooks praised his guards for providing the impetus needed for the victory; "Our guards were at their peak with Karmen Kimberley leading the defense." (Lineup not found)

January 25, 1969 Basketball Collins girls posted a 15 - 8 1st quarter lead and went on to a sound victory over Baxter on the home court, 63-50. Balanced scoring and fine defense by the guard court contributed to the Collins victory. Collins scoring: Donna Rumbaugh 26 pts.; Cathy Carroll 19 pts.; Linda Carroll 16 pts.; Janice Hunt 2 pts. Guards Debbie Long, Karmen Kimberley and Peggy Mullihan.
Collins boys were unable to improve their record losing to Baxter 64-34. They were outscored in each quarter by the Baxter team. Collins scoring: Marv Huntrods, Bob Earles, Jim Adams, 7 points each. Mark Atwood 5 pts.; Gordon 3 pts.; Ed Fitzgerald 2 pts.; Rick McQuiston 2 pts.; John Hale 1 pts.
January 28, 1969 Honor Roll Collins school announced the Honor Roll for the 2nd nine week period and semester. Those students making B or better grades in four subjects for the 2nd nine weeks are: 9th - Rita Caulkins, Bill Huntrods, Vaughn Noring, Dennis Stratton. 10th - Janice Hunt, Kay Kloppenborg, Carol Middleton, Nancy Mullihan, Becky Newman, Deanna Tiffany. 11th - Jean Chittenden, Cynthia Cochran, Marian Evans, John Hale, Laura Kimberley, Peggy Mullihan, Marie Newton, Rod Stevens. 12th - Chris Atwood, Linda Carroll, Lois Gross, David Lengeling, Jane Maxwell, JoAnn Novinger, Lisa Pointer, Mary Rice, Jerry Whitaker.
Hot Lunch Price: Approval has been received from the Department of Public Instruction for reduced price hot lunches. This directive was set up by the federal government and has been totally complied with by the Collins Board of Education.
