Hot Lunch: Mon. Sloppy Joes, potato chips, apple salad, bar, milk. Tues. Wieners and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with butter, carrot slices, cake, milk. Wed. Meat balls, corn, rolls, butter, plums, milk. Thurs. Creamed chicken on biscuits, bean salad, fruit, milk. Fri. Salmon pattie, potato salad, peas, Jell-O, milk.

September 18, 1967 A Get-Acquainted Pot-Luck Dinner was held in the school lunchroom Friday night. Those attending were the old and new faculty members and their families, school board members and family, cooks, secretary and custodian with their families.

September 21, 1967 Chester (Toppy) Lilliard and Eugene (Gene) Atwood were installed as new members on the board of education at the Collins Community School Monday night meeting. At the reorganization session, Russell Oswalt was re-elected president. Other board members - James Wright, Alvis Shaw. Robert (Bob) Titus and William (Bill) Atwood who have served in the past, chose not to run this term. They are to be highly commended for their fine service to the community and for the improvements in the school. Many thanks to these outgoing members who have served their community faithfully and well.

November 12, 1967 Basketball - The Ta-Ma-Ja Championship is the goal of the boys' Collins Clippers this year. The Clippers lost three starters by graduation, but have five returning lettermen among the 21 prospects according to Coach Cody Barnett. Lettermen are: Roger Holland - 6' 3" senior forward; Mike Mullihan - 6' 4" senior center; Tom Morrison - 6' 3" senior forward; Steve Holland - 5' 11" senior guard; Joe Fitzgerald - 5' 9" junior guard. Last year's graduates were Lee Huntrods - forward; Jim Lehman - guard, both starters, and reserve Kevin Stratton. (Season record was won 10, lost 9.) According to Coach Barnett, we should have good shooting and because of our height, good rebounding.

Squad members are: Bob Oswalt, Ed Fitzgerald, John Hale, Mark Atwood, Joe Fitzgerald, Gordon Carver, Marv Huntrods, Bob Earles, Mike Mullihan, Roger Holland, Tom Morrison Steve Holland, Chuck Page. Coach - Cody Barnett.

Basketball schedule - (Boys and girls). Nov. 14 - Boone Ryan (boys), 17-Urbandale (girls), 21 - Baxter. Dec. 1 - LDF, 5 - Bondurant, 8 - Garwin, 12 - Mingo, 15 - Maxwell. Jan. 5 - Story City, 12 - Semco, 16 - Maxwell, 19 - Mingo, 20 - Colo, 25 - Baxter. Feb. 2 - Colo, 6 - Green Mountain, 9 - Bondurant, 13 - Garwin.

November 15, 1967 Cold shooting cost Collins boys their opening basketball game, losing to Boone Ryan 54-52 in overtime. Collins trailed 12-6 at the 1st quarter and 24-18 at halftime. Clippers came back to lead 33-32 at the 3rd quarter and regulation game was 49-49. Collins took early overtime lead, with Boone rallying to defeat Collins 54-52. Collins scoring: Steve Holland - 18, Joe Fitzgerald - 13, Roger Holland - 8, Marv Huntrods - 7, Gordon Carver - 4, Mike Mullihan - 2. (Insert 2007: Lineup not found) The Collins JV was also defeated by two points, 28-26. Leading scorer, Bob Earles - 8 points.
