March 3, 1966 Girls District Basketball Tournament at Ice Arena in Des Moines. First round - The Clipperettes stayed on top for the first 19 minutes of the game, leading Norwalk 37-35. Norwalk took a 42-37 3rd quarter lead. Norwalk then put the ball in deep freeze in the 4th quarter, stalling and forcing Collins guards to foul to try getting the ball. The Clipperettes fought hard and hung on until late in the quarter when Norwalk's accurate shooting free throws and field goals put the game out of reach, Collins losing 66-52. The Collins guard court played one of their better games of the year and special recognition is earned by Linda Clemons, the only senior on the Collins team. Scoring: Vicki Mullihan - 34 pts.; Sandy Rumbaugh - 8 pts.; Pam Snyder - 8 pts.; Donna Rumbaugh - 2 pts. Guards - Linda Clemons, Mickey Holland, Cathy Clemons. The Clipperettes ended the season with 15 wins and 6 losses.

Boys Sectional Basketball Tournament: First round - The Collins Clippers won their first game defeating Gilbert 65-53. The Gilbert boys took a one point lead early in the game, but Collins soon took over and maintained a substantial lead during the rest of the game, leading 33-21 at halftime and maintained a substantial lead during the rest of the game.
