May 12, 1964 Ta-Ja-Ma Baseball Conference: First round - Collins scored 4 unearned runs in defeating Marshalltown St. Mary's 4-1. Collins scored 3 runs in the 3rd and 1 in the 6th. Gary Pointer pitched. Jim Hale caught. Innings - 7, hits - 4, runs - 1, strikeouts - 13, walks - 2. Collins team hits - 3, strikeouts - 11, walks - 0, fielding errors - 1.

May 16 Semi-final round - Bondurant-Farrar scored 1 run in the top of the 8th inning for a 4-3 win over Collins. Bondurant-Farrar scored twice in the 1st inning, 1 in the 2nd and 1 in the 8th. Collins scores were 1 in the 1st inning, 2 in the 4th. Gary Pointer pitched: Innings - 8, hits - 4, runs - 4, strikeouts - 6, walks - 7. Collins team hits - 8, strikeouts - 6, base on balls - 1, fielding errors - 3.

Grant for Math Study - Gary Pointer has been accepted in the cooperative college school mathematics program held on campus of N.E. Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, June 13 through August 7. Pointer will be taking courses in algebra, intermediate mathematics, and geometry. This program for 25 high-quality high school sophomores and juniors is being sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Missouri State Teachers College.

Grant for Science Study - Bonnie Downing has been accepted as participant in the summer science training program in chemistry at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. Program is June 21 to July 31. Forty high ability high school students who will be juniors and seniors were selected for this program that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

May 16, 1964 Commencement Excercies were held for graduating seniors: Karal Ann Bowers, Robert Chittenden, Sondra (?) Lee Christian, Jerry D. Crabb, Mary Ann Evans, John A. Fitzgerald, Theresa J. Howard, Lola Maxine Hunt, Patricia Ann Kingman, Delous Laudner, Verlyn M. Noring, Agnes Louise Ritter. Patricia Kingman, Valedictorian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kingman. Her GPA was slightly over 96. The winning margin was .17. Maxine Hunt, Salutatorian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt. Her GPA was slightly under 96. (Complete program not found.)

May 23, 1964 Grade Pupils' Visit to Ledges Park - The second and fourth grade pupils had a bus ride to the Ledges State Park near Boone, Iowa with their teachers Mrs. Miller (second) and Mrs. Haas (fourth). Pupils' mothers who accompanied: Mrs. John Patterson, Mrs. Richard Holland, Mrs. Bill Barrett, Mrs. Benny Caulkins, Mrs. Forrest Luing, Mrs. Jack Stratton, Mrs. Emory Krebs.

May 25, 1964 The Collins 1914 grads are the honored class at the Annual Alumni Banquet held in the school lunchroom at the Collins High School. Graduates: Ruth Anderson, Ethel Dodd, Edwin Fish, Mary Gingles, Jennie Hall, Mable Hanson, John Hattery, Margaret Hattery, Arlow Heinrichs, Ralph McCord, Ethel Stratton, Ada Swalwell, Vilda Tompson. The 25th-year class members were also recognized.
