April 1, 1963 The annual Collins Athletic Potluck Supper was held March 19 at 6:30 p.m. with approximately 125 attending. The program master of ceremonies was principal Glen Hinders. Program: Invocation - Rev. Wm. Hill; Welcome - Supt. E. E. Jackson; Response - Girls Coach Bill Brooks; Response - Boys Coach Hunzelman; Accordion duet - Pam Luing and Sherry Granger; Archery demonstration - Rev. Wm. Hill; Benediction - Rev. James Louk.

April 10, 1963 Boys Sports - Collins has recently been admitted to the Ta-Ma-Ja Conference. They will compete in the spring baseball tournament and conference track meet. The Collins boys are busy this time of year in the midst of spring baseball season and have added a track team for the first time in many years. Returning baseball letterman: Gary Pointer, Jerry Crabb, John Fitzgerald, Verlyn Noring, Bob Chittenden. Pointer and Jerry Crabb split the catching and pitching duties, Fitzgerald - 3rd, and Chittenden and Noring outfielders. Other squad members are: Fred Altes, Denny Krausman, John Crabb, Kenny Krausman, Daylis Smith, John Kloppenborg, Dave Kimberley, Harold Laughlin, Gary Robinson.

Track Schedule: Apr. 19 - Toledo Juvenile Home relays; Apr. 30 - Conference Meet in Marshalltown; May 10 - District Meet.

(Note: Collins School did not have a track. They utilized/improvised the school grounds and the adjoining street for conditioning, training and practice.)

Collins Boys Track Team had their first meet at Laurel with competing teams of Laurel, NESCO, and Collins. Collins placed a close 3rd with 21 points. Collins' placings: 880 Yard run - John Crabb, 2nd; Mile run - Jerry Talburt - 2nd; Mile relay - Collins - 1st; Medley relay - Collins - 1st; High jump - Mike Rumbaugh - 1st.

Collins Clippers successfully opened their Spring Baseball Season Monday with a decisive win over Mingo on their diamond 12-1. Collins used 6 hits and 11 walks by Mingo pitchers to score 12 runs. The big scoring inning was the 3rd with 6 runs, and 3 in the 4th and 3 in the 6th. John Crabb was leading hitter with a triple and a double and Fred Altes had a triple. Gary Pointer pitched: Innings - 6, hits - 1, runs - 1, strikeouts - 12, walks - 1. Jerry Crabb pitched: Innings - 1, hits - 0, runs - 0, strikeouts - 3, walks - 0. Team errors - 1 and strikeouts - 11.

April 12, 1963 Baseball - Collins Clippers rallies of 4 runs in the 4th and 3 in the 7th fell short of the Roland rallies of 5 runs and 4 runs for a 9-7 loss. John Crabb was the leading hitter with a double and 2 singles and Denny Krausman had a triple. Collins out hit Roland 6-4. Gary Pointer pitched: Innings - 3, hits - 0, runs - 0, strikeouts - 3, walks - 1. Jerry Crabb pitched: Innings - 4, hits - 4, runs - 9, strikeouts - 5, walks - 7. Team fielding errors - 2 and 4 strikeouts. (Lineup not found)
