April 26, 1962 Sectional Baseball Tournament will be held at Collins beginning May 7. Collins has 1st round bye. There are 64 sectional tournaments across the state with the winners advancing to district play. The state baseball tourney will be held May 28 and 29.

May 1, 1962 Collins gave Colfax a 3-run handicap in the 1st inning, then came roaring back in the 4th and 5th innings for a 6-3 win over Colfax. Colfax's 3 1st inning runs were the result of 4 Clipper errors. Collins' 5th inning rally began with Terry Huntrods' walk, Galen Smith reached 1st on an error with Huntrods advancing to 2nd; George Ballard advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt; Huntrods scored on Cliff Dalby's grounder to the shortstop. Gary Pointer then doubled, scoring Smith and advancing Dalby to 3rd who scored on Jerry Crabb's groundout. The game was called in 5 innings because of rain. Gary Pointer pitched: Innings - 5, hits - 5, runs - 3, strikeouts - 4, walks - 1. Team fielding errors - 5 and strikeouts - 11.

May 5, 1962 The April meeting of the Collins PTO was held in the auditorium/gym Monday evening. During the business meeting, Mr. and Mrs. William Atwood were chosen presidents for the 1962-63 school year. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Caulkins were chosen secretary-treasurer. The program was presented by the Home Ec girls and their teacher Mrs. Thompson. The narrator was Sally Kimberley. The program was called "Memories" and included ten interesting pages. Page 1 was the class and its routine; page 2 was flower arranging; page 3 was Annette Sinnott playing a cornet solo accompanied by Bonnie Hale; page 4 was canning, baking, and food essentials - girls were portrayed as bottles of milk, fruit, apples, a big steak, and a box of cereal; page 5 was a clarinet solo by Rosemary Robertson accompanied by Bonnie Hale; page 6 - art; page 7 - family relations, dance by Sheila Johnson, Bonnie Hale, Carla Rhoads, Rosemary Robertson, girls dressed as boys were - Pam Luing, Mary Lou McQuiston; page 8 was exercises; page 9 was accordion solo by Pam Luing; page 10 was a presentation of a trophy to the girl who had achieved the most in the school year - Mary Newton. As the pages or "Memories" were given, the clothes made in school and the home projects were modeled by the girls. At the close of the program a lunch of sandwiches and coffee was served. About 175 persons attended the evening of entertainment.

The Collins Alumni Banquet is to be held at the Collins School lunchroom June 2 at 6:30 p.m. The classes of 1912 and 1937 will be honored. Mrs. Marvin Stevens is in charge of the banquet plans. Mrs. Harold Mullihan is handling tickets and reservations. A dance will follow the supper with music by the "Lucky Seven."

Baseball - Collins remained undefeated with its 5th consecutive win, 1-0 over Melbourne. The only game score was in the 2nd inning with Dalby walking, advancing to 2nd on a groundout and scoring on Gary Pointer's double. Jerry Crabb pitched: Innings - 5 (5-inning game), hits - 4, runs - 0, strikeouts - 2, walks - 1. Collins had 3 hits and received 2 walks.
