October 20, 1961 The Senior Class went to Marshalltown Friday for their class pictures.
The Honor Society is sponsoring a skating party Thursday evening at Skateland in Ames.
November 1, 1961 Basketball - The girls team lost all six of their starters and Jane Dodd (g) is the only returning letterman. The forwards are inexperienced and scoring will be difficult for a while. The eight-team member squad includes four seniors, five juniors, two sophomores, and seven freshmen.
The boys team has four letter winners returning: Mort Dodd, Clyde Dalby, Galen Smith, and George Ballard. Coach Cory said, "We will be a little short, so we will try to run a little and use the fast break."

November 9, 1961 A full house came to see "Man Overboard," a comedy mystery presented by the Collins Junior class and directed by Mrs. E. E. Jackson on October 17 in the auditorium/gym. Cast: Bob Crabb, Jane Dodd, Barbara White, Betty Downing, Esther Swaim, Linda Carson, Douglas Smith, Bill Thompson, Clyde Dalby, Sally Coughenour, Charlene Laughlin, David Richeson, Jim Newton, John Jacobson, Charles Struthers, Jerry Talburt, Ronnie Tiffany, Vernon Hickle, Max Wolf, and Gary Horn. Between scenes, music was presented by Kay Robinson, boys' quintet, and girls' trio.
Basketball Jamboree (Each team plays two quarters) - The Collins Clipperettes' forwards had difficulty scoring and the guards had difficulty handling Story City's six-foot pivot forward as they suffered a 24-11 Jamboree loss.

November 11, 1961 Basketball - The Collins girls were overwhelmed with the tall and high quality Roland team, 59-19.
The boys were outplayed by Roland throughout the game, 62-36.
