April 21, 1961 Baseball - The Clippers fell 3-0 to Clemons in a rained shortened five inning game. The Clippers drew two walks in the 1st inning, but were unable to score. In the 2nd inning the Clippers loaded the bases with 1 hit and 2 walks. The next two batters struck out to retire the side. Clemons scored 1 run in the 2nd and two runs in the 4th for their 3 runs. April 25, 1961 Baseball - Collins Clippers used six runs in the 5th inning to break the game open in defeating Milford Twp 11-3. In the big 5th inning Collins scored their 6 runs on 2 hits, 3 walks, and 3 errors by the Milford Twp team. Jim Crabb was the leading hitter with 2 hits, driving in 4 runs. April 27, 1961 At the State Music Contest held in Laurel, the Collins musicians earned five II ratings and four III ratings. The girls trio, trombone solo by Dick Rice, soprano solos by Charlene Laughlin and Esther Swaim, high soprano solo by Cheryle Partridge earned II ratings. A coronet solo by Verlyn Noring, the trumpet trio, brass quartet, and girls sextet earned III ratings. At Martinsdale contest, the band earned a II rating.

Baseball - Collins beats Roland 5-2. A very rare event occurred as Collins, although out-hit 5-4, defeated Roland 5-2 in a conference game on the Collins diamond. Collins scored one run in the 1st inning and Roland responded with a run in the 2nd inning. Terry Huntrods singled to begin the 3rd inning, Clyde Dalby reached 1st base on a fielder's choice and a double by Jim Crabb drove in both runners. Crabb came home on a Roland error and a passed ball. Collins added a run in the 4th inning and Roland scored 1 in the 5th for the final 5-2 Collins victory. Mort Dodd scored 2 runs, but was not credited with a hit as he reached base on an error and a fielder's choice. Jim Crabb had 2 for 3 in batting. April 29, 1961 Baseball - Collins narrowly defeated Maxwell 6-5. Jim Crabb pitched his first high school baseball game and Collins' team scored their 6 runs in the first inning. Collins had 1 hit, received 5 walks, and Maxwell's 3 errors to score the 6 runs by Mort Dodd, Clyde Dalby, Jim Crabb, Galen Smith, Dick Rice, and Jim Crabb. May 2, 1961 Baseball - Collins and Maxwell met again with the Clippers decisively winning 17-7 in the five inning game. Collins closed out the contest with a double play, stranding two Maxwell runners. Clyde Dalby went four for four and Mort Dodd, leadoff batter, tripled in the 1st inning and also tripled in the 2nd inning. Collins opened the game with three runs, scored four more in the 2nd, five in the 4th, and a five-run 5th inning to close out the 17-7 game. May 5, 1961 Baseball - Collins lost to Melbourne 5-3 as Melbourne scored five unearned runs in the 1st inning and the Clippers had only one hit, Dick Rice. Neither team was credited with an earned run in this five-inning game. George Ballard pitched: Innings - 5, hits - 6, runs - 5, strikeouts - 2, walks - 2.
