Collins boys were beaten in a very close game by Mingo 53-50. The loss was the sixth for the boys against four wins. Collins controlled the first half of play with 36-17 lead. In the 3rd quarter Mingo started hitting and by the third quarter the score narrowed the Collins lead to only 45-39. In the last quarter Mingo continued hitting their shots and went ahead to win the game 53-50. We have had two Junior High basketball games. The girls have won both games, but the boys have lost both games. Tuesday night the girls defeated Milford Twp by a one-point margin 25-24 and the boys' lost 33-11.
December 24, 1959 The students of Collins School presented the "Nativity" on Thursday night. All the grades played a part in this Nativity. Special music was presented by soloists Dick Rice, Fred Etnier, Don Struthers, girls chorus, girls sextet (Cheryle Partridge, Lois Struthers, Linda Atwood, Shirley Kern, Charlene Laughlin, Betty Jane Kearns). Wednesday afternoon the high school held its annual Christmas party. Following special numbers by several grades and group singing led by some of the grades, the grab bag gifts were handed out. As we were excused, the teachers gave out treats.
December 31, 1959 Grade News: 4th - In our new aquarium, we have a new fish. It helps to clean the water. We have a ferris wheel in the aquarium, which goes around causing bubbles in the water.

January 14, 1960 Basketball - Although Collins girls never held the lead, Zearing found it rough going before winning 38-34. A zone defense limited Zearing's shots as well as screening them out on rebounds. Zearing held a halftime lead of 21-17. Susie Kilgore led the Collins scoring with 23.
