December 25, 1958 School News - Not Guilty was the verdict returned by the high school jurors at the senior court day Dec. 12. Seniors from each of the Story County high schools, except Ames and Story City, took part in the mock trial. Driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated was the charge made against the defendant by the State. All taking part, except the jury, were members of the Story County Bar Association. They used a transcript taken from an actual case tried in another Iowa County. The real defendant was actually convicted.
January 1, 1959 The Adult Farmer class of the Collins Adult Evening School met last Monday night. The topic discussed was livestock disease, Bill Owens, veterinarian from Maxwell discussed this disease. He covered Leptospirosis, a fairly recent disease of swine and cattle in the U. S. A. A film on foot and mouth disease was also shown. The next meeting is Jan. 5 with the topic of farm buildings and construction. The entire community is invited to attend.
