The Collins boys and girls made good showing on their last home game of the regular season, defeating Cambridge in both games. The girls won by a one-point margin - 37-36 with Georgiann Briles scoring 20 points and Sharon Stratton 8. The boys also won - 58-34, with Jerry Dodd scoring 11 points and David Derby 10 points. Both girls and boys lost to Huxley, girls 68-34 and boys 70-44. (Insert 2006: Lineups not found for these games.)

High School News - Saundra has really had her share of casualties this year. Last week during the game, she had the misfortune to get a cracked rib. The seniors had the opportunity of teaching the grade school for the morning classes.
Basketball - The junior high girls and boys teams lost their first games of the season to State Center. Both girls and boys have records of five wins and one loss. The girls lost a high-scoring game 52-46. Scoring: Susie Kilgore - 22 pts.; Sharon Hay - 20 pts; Connie Bowers - 4 pts.
The boys lost 31-17. Norman Spooner, Clyde Dalby, and Galen Smith were leading scorers.
Grade News: 1st - We have been discussing eating good dinners and made charts showing the good things to eat. Weekly Readers are really interesting. Last week we read about new cars that come to America from foreign countries. Most of these are small foreign cars.
February 6, 1958 In a meeting Wednesday afternoon, the Story County Board of Education and the Collins School Board discussed proposals for redistricting schools in this county, especially in regards to Collins. The meeting offered no definite plans, most of the plans are tentative and no decision has to be reached on any proposed redistricting before July 1. As soon as definite plans are made, the Gazette will publish such information as well as maps to illustrate the various proposals.
The Collins girls lost to Slater 71-53. Slater led by only 29-25 at halftime. The guards played a good defensive game. Saundra Smith received a sprained ankle in the third quarter.
