The girls won a hard-fought game from Cambridge 55-54. It was a thrilling game with Collins leading all the way. The Cambridge 6-foot pivot/post forward, Carla Catron, tossed in 40 points, while Bonnie Long pivot/post forward put in 28 points for the home team. The Collins guards did a good job on ball handling. The boys fought a hard game against Cambridge as the score was almost even throughout the game with Collins pulling ahead to win 40-38. Grade News - Kindergarten and 2nd Grade - Both classes had several children absent with the chicken pox. 3rd We went to Maxwell to get our hearing tested and for a speech check. In Penmanship, we have almost finished learning how to make our capital letters. 5th and 6th Last Wednesday the 6th Grade went to Maxwell to have their hearing tested. Some were tested with an audiometer.

November 23, 1950 Question of the week. What do you think of the basketball teams? Bonnie S - I think they are both good. Virgil S. - I think they are good. Bob Moses - The girls are pretty good and the boys will do. John C. - They are real good. Carolyn S. - They are both good, but the girls are the better. Darrell M. - They are okay.

Basketball - The girls had their first defeat of the season at Colo - 52-47. The Collins girls couldn't hit the basket until late in the second quarter. Then they came back with a fighting spirit to try overcoming the 10 point lead Colo held at halftime. The Colo girls held the 10-point lead until late in the fourth quarter when the Collins forwards made a couple of fast baskets to narrow the margin to five points. Karol Buffington was the high scorer for Colo with 32 points while Barbara Kimberely put in 22 points for Collins. The boys won a decisive victory over Colo 40-20 with Collins ahead all the way. After the first half, the second team played the remainder of the game, which was a good experience for them.
