The highlight of the season was a 14-point victory over Colo in the Sectional Tournament after losing two conference games earlier in the season. The Clipperettes also defeated nearby rival Maxwell 29-27. Defensively, Collins limited opponents to a 34 point per game average. The guards in the backcourt were the only two seniors of the Collins squad, Carol Atwood and Joanne Janes. Lola Oswalt, junior, was post guard. Barbara Kimberley, junior, was the team's leading scorer with 445 points for a 17 point per game average. She also was top scorer for the county tournament with 75 points. Her top scoring game was 29 points. Bonnie Long, junior, was pivot forward and Carolyn Long, sophomore, the third forward. Ball handling was the outstanding feature of the forward play, as they had to concede height advantage to their opponents in most games. Phyllis Baker, junior, and Betty Boozell, soph., were the primary guard substitutes; Virginia Mead, soph., and Dorothy Long, freshman, were primary forward substitutes. Other members of the squad were: Crystal Moore, soph.; Joy Milligan, soph.; Shirley Shuey, fr.; Norma Keagle, Junior; Phyllis Carroll, fr.

February 9, 1950 The Ag boys and Mr. Maddox (voc ag instructor halftime at Colo - mornings, and halftime at Collins - afternoons) made two trips the past week. The first was to Des Moines where they went through the Farm Bureau building and fertilizer plant. The other trip was to Mingo where a meat show was held. This proved very interesting, as this was a carcass demonstration, which is helpful to most anyone.
