Grade News - 4th in Arithmetic we are learning our addition and subtraction combinations so we can say them without counting. We are learning in Geography how people of the Far North live. In Science we are learning about grasshoppers and locusts. The boys and girls have been bringing them to our room in boxes and bottles.

September 30, 1948 Music - Students interested in band are now having regular classes. Students taking classes are: 1 flute, 11 clarinets, 4 trumpets, 2 drums, 5 trombones, 2 saxophones, 1 baritone. In Gradeschool music, the 4h 5th and 6th grades are studying music theory along with learning singing in two parts. The 1st grade has rhythm band every Thursday. All the elementary grades have a music period every day.

Sectional Baseball Tournament: Collins won the game over ( ? ? ) 12-6. Connie Smith homered and Collins scored 7 runs in the 6th inning. Cheerleaders were elected at the school assembly. They are: Jackie Keagle, Lois Elliott, Joyce Tomlinson and Dorothy Partridge, the same four as last year.

The advanced Home Ec class are sewing wool dresses, skirts and blouses. They are doing a swell job. Freshmen girls have been doing some very good cooking, fixing casseroles and cooking their own dinner Friday.
