Semi-final round victory overHuxley 31-29. The first quarter ended 11-11. Collins moved into a 19-14 lead at the half and to a 27-16 lead midway in the third quarter. The Vikings scored six points while Collins was scoreless. Lonnie Boozell ended the draught with a free throw near the end of the quarter with Collins leading 28-22. George Tiffany made two free throws and Bob Baker added the final point. The Vikings scored eight points in the closing minutes to close out the game with Collins winning 31-29. Home-Ec News: The senior girls have completed the coverage of their chairs. The freshmen girls entertained their mothers and friends at a brunch Tuesday morning. After the brunch, the girls presented a play entitled "Be It Ever So Humble," written by a freshmen Home-Ec class in New York; Songs- Serenade of the Bells and Sentimental Journey duet by Lola Oswalt and Norma Evans. Ag News: The Ag boys went out to O. A. Caulkins' field back of the schoolhouse to pick up corn. Charles Hofer brought his tractor and wagon. We hope to get more jobs of picking up corn so we can build up our treasury.

February 12, 1948 Voc Ag - This week we present another report in a series of interviews of boys taking Voc Ag. We have chosen Norman Ball, who lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ball, on a farm five miles southeast of Collins. He intends to farm after graduating.

BasketBall - Girls Sectional Tournament: Although the Collins team didn't take top honors at the sectional tournament at Maxwell last week, they only missed by one point in the final game, losing to Colo - 31-30. They are deserving of a lot of credit for good playing and good sportsmanship. The runner-up trophy won by the local girls is on display in the Gazette office window along with the boys runner-up trophy received in the Story County Tournament.
