February 6, 1941 Girls County Tournament held at Maxwell. Collins girls defeated Huxley in the first round and lost to Maxwell in the semi-finals 30-29. In the consolation game, Collins defeated Colo 34-27. (No box scores found)

Basketball. Collins played Melbourne on the local floor with the girls winning 33-27. Sheibley scored 14 points. The Melbourne boys won 40-32 with Jack Fertig scoring 16 points. (No box scores found)

The school spelling contest among the 5th 6th, 7th and 8th grades was held with Curtis Marsh the winner and Pauline Dolph runner-up. Curtis Marsh will participate in the county contest.

February 15, 1941 The Collins boys bowed to the Zearing team in the first round of the county tournament at Nevada. [No scores given.]

Assembly. An assembly of the entire school Thursday morning was entertained by a group of six sound motion pictures. Three of the movies were on foreign countries; Ireland, Scotland, Palestine, the Sports Parade, the Gay Nineties Live Again, and a Cartoon "Boy Meets Dog."

February 20, 1941 Collins Girls to District Basketball Tourney. The Collins High School Girls team, runner-up in the Sectional Tournament at Maxwell, is now one of the contenders in the District Contest at Marengo, playing Gilman in the first round.

In the first round of the Girls Sectional Tournament, Collins defeated Bondurant (Box score not found) The Semi-final game at Maxwell last Friday night in which Collins defeated Maxwell 26-25 in overtime, really was revenge for the one-point overtime defeat by the local girls at Maxwell's hands in the recent county tourney. In the Sectional finals, Saturday night, Mingo won from Collins 42-30, and the Jasper County girls also will go to Marengo District Tourney. (Both Collins and Mingo to District Tourney)

First Grade News - Larry Heintz and Bonnie Snyder had their sixth birthday this week.
